Your account is passed to a companies Debt collection department when you have defaulted and missed payments on your account.
 
Many of the larger financial institutions will often attempt to resolve the Debt problems themselves only passing them onto a Debt collection agency if they are unable to come to an agreement with the client.
 Debt collection agencies have to adhere to the same legal constraints that the financial institution would have to and cannot demand money by threat or physical violence.
 
Debt agencies send letters demanding payment in full. It is essential that you contact them and explain why you cannot meet these demands. Once again at this stage it is essentail you receive the correct Debt Advice so feel free to contact us.
 
As long as you keep to any agreements to help and work with the Debt collection agency by providing accurate information to them, most Debt collection agencies should be willing to help.
 
Debt agencies may apply to get County Court Judgement against you. You should be sent a claim form giving you opportunity to reply.
